In 1999 Charters School achieved its best ever results at A Level, GCSE and GNVQ. The Headteacher, Marcia Twelftree, is delighted and stated "These excellent results reflect much hard work on the part of the school community. Students, staff and parents have worked together to provide the very best learning environment for our young people. These results are the best ever in the history of the school, it's just absolutely fantastic."

Overall the Pass Rate at A Level was 97% with 48.5% of grades at A and B. These results reflect not
only high levels of attainment but also high levels of "value added". Particular
highlights were to found in English Literature where a third of all candidates gained
a "A" grade and also in Sociology where 9 candidates gained an A. These
results place Charters amongst the best schools in the country at A level.
77% of all pupils aged 15 in the 1998/99 academic year gained 5+ GCSE passes at grades A*- C.
97% of all pupils aged 15 in the 1998/99 academic year gained 1+ GCSE passes at grades A*-G.
This results would place Charters School in the top 250 state schools in the country. If you counted non-selective schools
then the results would look even more spectacular.
The results for English Language were outstanding with 20% of candidates gaining an A* or A, with an overall A*-C pass rate of 82%. Other subjects with exceptionally high pass rates included Art &Design(82%), Drama(85%), English Literature(89%), Science(82%), Religious Studies(88%), Resistant Materials(82%) and Textile Technology(92%).
GNVQ results at Intermediate and Advanced level were once again outstanding.
The results in the first year of the Intermediate GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism were excellent. All students completed the course and 3 gained "Distinctions". Most students returned to Charters to study for an Advanced GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism.
Once again the Intermediate GNVQ in Business resulted in high grades being achieved by students. All students completed the course with "Merit" grades. Most students have returned to Charters to study for an Advanced GNVQ in Business.
In Advanced Business the success rate was 80% and most students have entered degree coursesand some have
chosen to go into employment with major companies. Of the 16 pupils that completed the
course 8 gained distinctions, a figure that will be envied by many institutions.
